Chain Elastic Machine Operator

Classification: Non - Exempt

Base Salary Range: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour

Reports To: Wire Department Supervisor

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the production of the organization’s elastic chain parts. It ensures that the parts produced are of the highest quality and that enough product is produced to fill existing quotas and maintain a stocked inventory. 

 

Assigned Functions or Duties

• Set up and operate Elastic Chain Machine

• Select color of chain to be run per parts needed.

• Place spool of material on manual payoff feed

• Apply thin coat of silicone water emulsion mold release to ribbon material to be used.

• Verify air pressure.

• Feed ribbon thru set of guides

• Run machine.

• Perform stretch and pull tests for each run.

• Inspect visually for perforation inconsistencies or breaks in material.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.

• Experience in machine operation preferred.

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing field

• Ability to learn quickly.

• Good communication skills

• Ability to focus and work under minimal supervision.

• Adherence to attendance policy

 

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform duties while standing throughout an (8) hour shift excluding breaks and lunches.

• Must be able to lift to 35 lbs.

• Must be able to keep a consistent pace throughout an (8) hour shift, excluding breaks and lunches.

• Must be able to bend below waist level.

• Must be able to reach arms above head.

• Must have manual dexterity.

• Must be able to see and focus on small parts produced.

• Must perform duties in a safe manner while exercising and displaying common sense while working with moving parts, chemicals, and gases.

• Must be able to understand, remember and apply oral and /or written instructions or other information.
